Network Planning Engineer Current

- Serve as floor coach for the FTI engineering team, adapting to the floor's needs day to day: guiding and unblocking fellow engineers, assigning and prioritizing work, and serving as an escalation point for complex issues.
- Plan, design, and optimize secure, resilient network solutions for the FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) program, the backbone carrying mission-critical communications for air traffic control across the national airspace.
- Engineer routing and transport across OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP, along with MPLS and VPN/IPsec, supporting both modern and legacy telecom technologies.
- Lead network upgrades, migrations, and integration of new technologies in compliance with FAA and L3Harris standards, coordinating rollouts to minimize service disruption.
- Perform root cause analysis on complex, multi-vendor (Cisco and Juniper) network issues, developing mitigation strategies to strengthen reliability.
- Conduct risk assessments across network infrastructure and maintain documentation, network diagrams, and compliance records supporting evolving FAA requirements.
